Speaking to daily active Kenya,Kabogo states that the bench marking trip to six countries won’t add value to the commission but will lead to loss of public money.

The former Governor is opposed to the move saying it not necessary for public officers to spend funds on wasteful programmes that don’t add value on their service delivery noting the money can be used on the use like fight drought in Counties affected.

Kabogo, has in the recent past been a vocal crusader in the war on corruption regretted that the proclivity for foreign trips has reached ridiculous levels and opened a conduit for siphoning public money, yet the so-called bench marking trips have never added any value to the live of the citizens.

The IEBC Commissioners – Chebukati, Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu – are planning to tour South Africa, a country that does not have constituencies, raising questions about the motive of the expensive.

The officials will visit six countries including the US beginning Monday, March 25. The three commissioners will be in all the six trips together with four staff from the secretariat.

“Tours are ill-advised, unnecessary and excessive and could be a disguise to raid taxpayers coffers for hefty allowances,”the governor said.

It is worth noting that the Auditor General Edward Ouko says the IEBC cannot account for up to KSh9.2 billion for various contracts it awarded for the supply of goods and services used during the twin 2017 general elections.

The ex governor advised the Commission to instead use the money to educate the society on electoral justices.
