Dorper Sheep Breeders Society of Kenya has apologised to the locals for the inconvenience after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew, Meshack Mbugua Muhoho, bought all animals that were to be auctioned.

Muhoho, who had accompanied the Kajiado Speaker Joseph Osoi, bought two rams and 10 ewes at Ksh 390,000 during the event at Erankau

Kajiado Deputy Governor, Martin Moshisho, urged locals to engage in profit-making farming.

Late last year, Kimalel goat auction held in Baringo saw President Uhuru and his deputy, William Ruto, buy animals worth Ksh10 million.

The deputy president spent Ksh6 million while the president spent Ksh4 million during the event where at least 2,500 goats were sold.

The goats were auctioned between Ksh 10,000 to Ksh 12,000, meaning the DP had approximately bought 500 to 600 goats, while the president bought between 300 to 400.

The Water Cabinet Secretary, Simon Chelugui, had parted with Ksh2 million to purchase the goats.

Each year, Baringo County gets at least Ksh 2.9 billion from the sale of more than 120,000 animals.
