This is what Ole Gunnar told Man Utd players after FA Cup upset

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pulled no punches with his Manchester United players after a disappointing defeat at the hands of Wolves in the FA Cup.

The Red Devils were eliminated from the competition at the quarter-final stage after a 2-1 defeat at Molineux .

It comes less than a week after the club suffered a damaging Premier League loss to Arsenal as United were beaten in back-to-back games for the first time under Solskjaer.

And the Norwegian gave his team an honest verdict on their return to the changing room after the match.

Solskjaer said: “The truth. I told them, not you. But, of course, you can’t sit down and sulk too long.

“We’re disappointed, everybody is disappointed, but we’ve got to look forward and put behind the result today.

“We know we’ve played well against Arsenal last week didn’t get what we deserved.

“But today we got what we deserved because we never deserved to win this game.”

United fell behind to a Raul Jimenez strike midway through the second half, before Diego Jota tied United full back Luke Shaw in knots to follow up with a second goal for the hosts.

Marcus Rashford scored in injury time to add consolation for United, but it wasn’t enough to keep them in the cup.

United had enjoyed a remarkable start to life under Solskjaer, having lost just once in his first 17 games in charge.

However Solskjaer stated his teams form was always going to dip at some point, and rejected any suggestion the result could affect his sides momentum.

“I think it’s something natural,” Solskjaer added. “You cannot perform to the top of your level every single time, it’s still against a good team, don’t forget that.

“Wolves have done really well against top teams, don’t take anything away from them, even though we under-performed.”
