Zidane has moved on from Neymar for his PSG partner

Zinedine Zidane is ready to pull the plug on Neymar’s dream transfer to Real Madrid as he would prefer to land his Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Kylian Mbappe.

The Brazilian attacker has long been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, despite having previously turned out for Real’s bitter rivals Barcelona, and it was expected he might finally see through a move to the Spanish capital this summer with Madrid set to spend big.

However, his hopes of returning to La Liga are in doubt following Zidane’s reappointment. Zidane was never keen on signing the Brazil international during his first spell at the club and believes the exhorbitant transfer fee required to sign him could be better spent elsewhere, according to AS.

He is convinced that players of a similar level are out there who would suit his side better by putting the team ahead of the individual.

Indeed, Zidane believes Mbappe represents a better deal for Madrid and he has been placed at the top of their summer shortlist, while the emergence of talented Brazilian Vinicius Jr has dampened calls from Real’s top brass to sign Neymar.

The 18-year-old has been the shining light in a what has been a disappointing season for the 13-time European champions and he is viewed as a future superstar of the side.

It’s bad news for Neymar who had his heart set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu and he will have to reconsider his options.
