MP Ken Okoth launches solidarity fund to offer assistance to cancer patients

Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth has kept Kenyans abreast of his condition after he was diagonalized with cancer.

Hon Okoth revealed that he was diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer, adding that the disease cannot be cured but only managed.

MP Okoth has now launched a solidarity fund to fight the deadly cancer disease.

The Kenneth Okoth Cancer Solidarity Fund aims at offering assistance to cancer patients and also create awareness to cancer-free residents of Kibra.

Okoth, who is battling stage four colorectal cancer, has appealed to Kenyans to donate and support his initiative as a way of fighting the disease which has claimed lives of thousands of Kenyans.

“You are invited to support Kenneth Okoth Cancer Solidary Fund. The contributions will be used for medical care including medical camps to provide screening for vulnerable groups in Kibra,” he said in a statement tweeted by his close friend Raila Odinga Junior on Tuesday.

The initiative was welcomed by a good number of Kenyans who termed it as noble and pledged their support.

“It’s time for us to assist a selfless leader in Ken Okoth. You are in our prayers,” said Kiigen K. Koech.

On her part, Faith Mwende thanked the ODM MP for being an inspiration to many cancer patients and noted his idea will go a long way in creating a cancer-free country.

“Thanks Mheshimiwa for bringing to light the journey of cancer treatment. Early diagnosis, accessible and affordable healthcare for all is what we need to handle cancer,” Mwende tweeted.
