A woman has been imprisoned for two years after pleading guilty to drugging a man and robbing him in a bar.
Nelius Nyambura Waruino spiked Josephat Kuria Macharia’s drink at Dragon Bar in Kasarani after which she stole Sh220,000.
The incident that took place on February 24 is said to have left Macharia unconsciousness for eight hours.
Macharia had checked into the bar around 9pm on the material day accompanied by some friends. Nyambura later joined them at their table.
The two chatted and had a good time, before Nyambura grabbed an opportunity to ask for airtime from a jovial Macharia, claiming she wanted to make an urgent call.
Moments later, Macharia lost consciousness and only regained his senses at 2pm the following day. He claimed he lost his phone and Sh220,000 and reported the matter to police.
In the ruling, the magistrate note that: “These offences are quite rampant; drugging a victim can have a devastating effect that can cause death. I hereby convict you to serve two years imprisonment.”
