United Kingdom responds to Sonko’s perfectly staged PR to make history in East Africa

Call it PR , but Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is undoubtedly working and making life’s for Nairobi citizens easy. Last year, while responding to a tip off, Mike sonko visited Pumwani hospital and saw how the bodies of 12 babies had been handled.

Arriving on a bodaboda, the governor said he had decided to visit the hospital unannounced after a source tipped him off about the goings-on at the health facility.

However the 2018 burst opened doors to the hospital that has since then, been frequently highlighted in the media as an emerging life transforming center.
Sonko has announced that Pumwani Maternity Hospital will now be known as Sonko Pumwani Women’s Hospital & College of Nursing & Midwifery.

Nairobi County pledged to expand Pumwani Maternity Hospital by putting up a ten-storey 450-bed capacity building adjacent to the current facility.

And just recently, the UK Government has committed to fund the first human milk bank in East Africa, at the Pumwani Maternity Hospital.

British High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey says they have set aside Sh65 million for funding the human milk bank, which upon completion will be launched in early April.

In 2018, Nairobi’s Mike Sonko was rated as the most improved Governor according to new survey from Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA), a research firm.

Sonko who scored a C, posted an improvement from the D+ grade he scored in May this year.

Those who took part in the poll cited better service delivery in the ratings for his performance.

His highest scores was recorded for street lighting with 68per cent, up from from 62per cent a few
