Running out of time; United given a go-ahead to sign Tottenham defender

Manchester United is working on strengthening their team in all sides, the front back and at the middle ahead of the seasons summer moves in attempt to give other English teams a run for their money in the league and one of their targets in the reign of Mourinho seems to be free for signing.

Tottenham are resigned to losing Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United in the summer for just £26million.

The Reds’ rebuilding programme is set to start with a swoop for the Belgian who has so far refused to sign a new deal at White Hart Lane.

In January Spurs activated a counter-clause that allowing their Belgian centre back to leave for just £26 million within the final two weeks of this summer’s transfer window.

United are set to push their way to the front of the queue for 30-year-old Alderweireld with Juventus and Barcelona also keen and Spurs will have no option but to sell with just a year remaining of Alderweireld’s contract.

United are set to listen to offers for Eric Bailly, bought by Jose Mourinho in 2016, this summer.

Meanwhile Spurs have confirmed a number of their legends will take part in a test event ahead of the club’s move to their £1billion new stadium.

Robbie Keane, Rafael van der Vaart, Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Anderton are all set to line up in a side to be managed by Gary Mabbutt withthe event scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 30.
