Here are the daily top stories making headlines:

Gor Mahia overcome a stubborn Homeboyz in Machakos

Gor Mahia went to within one point of KPL leaders Sofapaka after beating Kakamega Homeboyz 2-1 in a League Match played at Machakos Stadium.

K’Ogallo had to come from behind after being penned by a well taken strike from Luke Namanda in the 51st minute.

But quick fire goals from Burundian import Francis Moustapha and Boniface Omondi ensured Gor bagged all the three points.

They are now second on the log with 32 points, one behind leaders Sofapaka who have played three matches more.

Gor now switch focus to Sunday’s CAF Confederations Cup Showdown with Angola’s Petro Atletico. A win will take them to the quarter finals for the first time in history.

Perfect line-up? 4 Gunners who’ve won all of 5 games when started together this season

As Arsenal will face a complicated task of trying to overcome a 3-1 deficit against Rennes at Emirates on Thursday within the Europa League Round of 16 after a disastrous first leg clash in France, Unai Emery is definitely going to have a good thing over his starting line-up and gameplan.

However, the ideal combination of the players might be closer than the Spaniard thinks. As it stands, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have started just five games together this season so far. Arsenal won all of them, much to the amazing quartet’s credit.

With the lads, the north Londoners came out on top at Cardiff (3-2), at Newcastle (2-1) and achieved two consecutive 2-0 home victories against Everton and Watford, with all of the aforementioned triumphs dating back to September 2018. Six months later, Emery returned to the undefeated formation – it resulted in another 2-0 home win, this time, against Manchester United.

In case you consider it a coincidence, some facts might prove you wrong. In those five matches, Arsenal scored 11 goals. The fantastic four scored a combined tally of 7, with the German playmaker and the French striker contributing two each, as well as the Gabonese attacker converting the rest three.

They put a stat up earlier which didn’t surprise me. 5 times this season Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ramsey and Ozil have started a match together. How many times have they won? All 5. If he’s that poor then how’s that stat possible? The Arsenal team needs to be built around him.— Andy spaughton (@gunnerandys) March 11, 2019

Furthermore, the deadly quartet also managed to provide five assists, with three going to Lacazette’s name and two added up by the Welsh midfielder, who, sadly, would no longer be part of Arsenal Football Club next summer.

Patrice Evra has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo told him Juventus were going to “smash” Atletico Madrid ahead of their remarkable Champions League comeback this week.Published39 min ago

The Italian giants trailed 2-0 on aggregate going into the second leg in Turin, but a superb hat-trick from Ronaldo turned the tie on its head and sent Juve through to the quarter-finals.

Evra, who played alongside the Portuguese forward during his time at Manchester United before spending two-and-a-half seasons with the Turin giants, published the text messages he’d exchanged with Ronaldo in the build-up to the game, with the former Real Madrid star assuring him: “We gonna pass bro. Home we smash them.”

“Behind the scenes… these are messages between me and Cristiano five days before the massive comeback!!!” Evra wrote on Instagram.

“This just shows you the confidence, the anger, the determination from the best player in the world.

“We should thank [his] mummy and daddy and of course God for giving to us that nice man and unbelievable player.

“Every big occasion with big pressure my brother always proves he is the man!!! So please don’t be jealous I just wanna share and if you don’t agree I can’t do anything for you…

“Enjoy your life but you have to recognise he is simply the best of the best and don’t try to tap the screen for his number.”

Man Utd Star Comes In From The Cold After France Recall

Martial named in France squad

Manchester United winger Anthony Martial is in line to make his first France appearance in a year.

The 23-year-old, who missed the cut for last summer’s victorious World Cup campaign, has been selected in a 23-man group for the opening Euro 2020 qualifiers against Moldova and Iceland this month.

Martial has been in fine form in the second half of the season, after struggling to make an impact under Jose Mourinho – prompting the Red Devils to hand him a lucrative new deal.

Everton defender Kurt Zouma has been selected after winning his third cap in October’s friendly against Iceland, with Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte left out.

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele and Lyon full-back Ferland Mendy miss out after both suffering injuries in Wednesday night’s Champions League meeting between their respective clubs.

Chelsea’s Hudson-Odoi handed his first call-up for National team

Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi has been handed his first call-up for the England under 21s.

The forward has been included for the friendlies against Poland and Germany this month as the Young Lions countdown to Euro 2019.

Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury, who made his Under-21 debut at last summer’s Toulon Tournament victory, returns.

“It’s an exciting time again, getting the boys back together to put in some preparation for the Euros and obviously two really good games this week against teams who could be our competitors in the summer,” said coach Aidy Boothroyd said.

Up-and-comer: Callum Hudson-Odoi

“Both Poland and Germany will give us a really good test. Any team that qualifies for the U21 Euros has to be respected, because it’s no mean feat getting there.

“You can see from the standard of the countries that are heading to Italy in June, they’re all top teams, so these will be difficult games.”
