Two Cabinet Secretaries Thursday morning appeared at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in the on-going Arror and Kimwarer dams investigations.
The two, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and his Agriculture counter Mwangi Kiunjuri appeared separately to record statements at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu road.
Wamalwa said on twitter that during the questioning, he clarified that the dams in question are not under his jurisdiction.
He urged Kenyans to support the on-going investigations and the fight against corruption by investigative agencies.
On his part, Kiunjuri though he honoured the summons, was adamant that he was unfairly targeted.
DCI boss George Kinoti is investigating claims that some contractors gave government officials kickbacks in order to get tenders for building the dams.
Taxpayers are said to have lost 21 billion shillings meant to build the dams.
But the government led by Deputy President William Ruto and Treasury CS Henry Rotich insists that only 7.8 billion has been paid out as advance payment.
Last week, treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich appeared at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters for four consecutive days over the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Rotich was expected to shed more light on the Ksh. 21 billion payment for the dam projects.
The construction of the mega project that is yet to start was meant to commence in December 2017 with the dams expected to produce hydro-electricity as well as be used for irrigation in the region to mitigate drought and boost food production.
