Revealed! United Interim Boss also Virgil van Djik landlord to boot Liverpool player out of his house

Man Utd interim boss, Ole Gunnar Solskajer has joked that he is ready to boot Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk out of his house as Manchester United look to make the Norwegian’s return to Old Trafford permanent.

Solskjaer became the Dutchman’s landlord last year when van Dijk was looking for a place to live, following his £75million move to Anfield, and opted to rent the Norwegian’s empty £4million mansion just outside Manchester.

The tenancy meant Solskjaer was forced to move into the Lowry Hotel when he was asked to replace Jose Mourinho on a temporary basis in December.

But his stunning impact as manager is set to land him the job permanently.

And that means Van Dijk will have to find a new home.

Asked whether he had spoken to the Liverpool defender about his living arrangements ahead of United’s clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford today, Solskjaer joked: “Yeah, he’s evicted.”

Solskjaer bought the property and called it home during his playing days at the Red Devils, had been on the market for the last couple of years.

When it failed to sell, van Dijk snapped it up temporarily when he moved to Liverpool from Southampton last January.

A source explained to the reporters how the Reds’ star found his way to Solskjaer’s home: “The property is the one Ole and his family lived in since his time at United and when he moved away it was eventually put up for sale.

“But when no takers came it was offered for rent – and when van Dijk signed for Liverpool he came to see it and loved it.

“Ole probably never thought he would be coming back to Manchester but now he is it really is ironic he can’t move back into his old place which he still owns.”
