Governor Waititu gifts Thika residents with sh 1 billion project

Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu has awarded Thika residents with sh 1 billion.

In partnership with World bank,Waititu said the amount will help in the construction of bitumen roads, expansion of sewerage systems, street lighting and beautification of the towns.

The governor said that the county had received a total of sh 1.8 billion that will be used to improve towns across the County.

Speaking at Landless Estate in Thika, where he launched a stormwater drainage system project worth Sh50 million, Governor Waititu noted that it was important to first construct drainage systems before upgrading roads in the area.

Other projects set to take place in the first phase include Sh79 million upgrade of the 2.1Km Mugo Kibiru road in Section Nine to bitumen standards and the Sh42 million solar street lighting and high mast lighting project to improve security in Thika town, Makongeni, Ngoliba, Witeithie, Kalimoni and Gatuanyaga.

Ruiru municipality was also allocated Sh73 million for the upgrade of the Kihunguro-Full Gospel road to bitumen standards.

The governor further is planning to beautify Thika town with 100 million.

Locals have welcomed the initiatives undertaken by the County government.
