You can normally work out how posh someone is based on the way they speak and where they live.

But according to an etiquette expert there are a couple of things that reveal if somebody is truly posh.

Neil Phillips from The Jockey Club revealed the two little signs which give away people who are actually posh.

The first is how you hold your glass when drinking white wine or champagne.

He explains: “You see people who think they look really elegant but then they grab hold of a wine glass.”

According to Neil, you should always hold the glass by the stem.

In fact, that’s why wine glasses are actually designed with the stem rather than just a normal rounded bowl.

The same rule applies if you’re drinking champagne or prosecco from a flute.

You should also hold the glass this way when you’re pouring your favourite drink from the bottle.

The second sign is how much time people spend enjoying nice things like afternoon tea.

He said: “It is about people taking their time. It’s your moment to be here

“You see people rushing through the experience.

Neil also shared some advice on the ‘correct’ way to enjoy an afternoon tea.

Instead of cutting your scone with a knife you should break it in half with your hands.

When it comes to jam or cream, he says there isn’t technically a right way to do but it her prefers jam first.

For the tea, we should be moving the spoon in a straight line from the top to the bottom rather than stirring it.

He said: “It is about going from six to 12 very gently.

“If you’re adding sugar it will allow it to dissolve properly. If you just stir it it will all fall to the bottom.

“You don’t need to do it for long, just a few goes.

“It just allows the tea and milk to blend together.”
