Could President Uhuru’s leniency be a safe haven for corruption?

An elected Member of Parliament allied to opposition NASA has claimed that the country is headed to a wrong direction due to hiked corruption cases.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka while speaking during an interview on Tuesday morning at a local Fm station, said leaders have prioritized stealing instead of development.

“It is very unfortunate that people are stealing public funds every day instead of using public funds wisely to fund development projects. This country is going in the wrong direction,” he stated.

According to the vocal MP, urgent measures need to be put in place to ensure those stealing public funds are sent to jail and the money recovered.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta should stop being lenient. Let those who have stolen public money be dealt with accordingly as by the rule of law. Kenyans deserve development,” he added.

Onyonka confirmed that he has never embezzled public funds arguing that other leaders from Kisii should produce evidence on the same.

“I have been a clean person for the years I have served as MP. Kisii leaders should follow my footsteps and learn to spend public money wisely,” he stated.
