Madrid’s Midfielder Optimistic on Teams Performance in the UCL quarterfinals

Partey confident Atletico Madrid will secure spot in UCL quarterfinals

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is optimistic that his team will produce the much-needed results in Turin despite not making the trip for the second leg of the last 16 clash against Juventus on Tuesday, March 12.

Partey will reportedly miss the Turin return leg after picking a yellow card in their 2-0 victory at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in February.

Speaking to Ghana Crusader, the 25-year-old shared his confidence in his teammates to qualify for the Champions League quarterfinals.

“We have a strong team with a tough mentality, so I know the guys will fight hard to do the job in Italy,” he said.

Partey has made six appearances so far in the Champions League this season and would be looking to return in the quarterfinals but not until Atletico accomplish the huge task ahead in Turin.

The Ghana international made his debut in the competition in 2016 at the Camp Nou and has since grown in confidence in every season of the competition.

With a UCL runner-up medal in hand, Partey would be rather keen on adding a Champions league winners medal to his cabinet.

Atletico Madrid head into Tuesday night’s clash with Juventus without Thomas Partey and Diego Costa but with a two-goal advantage they cannot afford to blow away this big chance of qualification.
