Coutinho sends his former colleague a special message amid struggles at Barcelona

Philippe Coutinho has sent his former Liverpool colleague Roberto Firmino a special message after the forward’s excellent performance against Burnley on Sunday.

Firmino scored two goals as the Reds won 4-2 to keep the pressure on Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title, and the striker’s brace did not go unnoticed by Brazilian pal Coutinho.

The former Liverpool playmaker had one eye on his old side as he congratulated Firmino on his excellent display.

In a post on Instagram the No 9 shared an image of himself running to celebrate with teammates during  Jurgen Klopp’s team’s crucial victory.

Barcelona’s No 14 commented on the image of his international Counterpart in their native Portuguese: “Joga muito…. Craque”, which roughly translates to “Plays very ace.”

The comment was also accompanied by two applause emojis and comes after the midfielder was reportedly booed by Barcelona fans at the Nou Camp on Saturday after a quiet showing

He was substituted by Barca boss Ernesto Valverde with ten minutes remaining in their 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano.

Spanish fans showed their frustration at his muted display by booing as Ivan Rakitic replaced the 26-year-old in midfield.

The attacking midfielder, who has scored four La Liga goals this term, has been linked with a move back to England with Manchester United said to be interested in acquiring the attacking midfielder
