This past weekend took a heavy toll on Rugby fans as local rugby mainstay Richard Sidindi was finally laid to rest this past weekend.
A member of Kenya’s rugby fraternity, Sidindi was known for his passion for the sport. The young player passed away after drowning at a swimming pool while doing a recovery session on his own, according to Capital Sports.
The Impala Saracens player’s untimely death was met with shock from the rugby fraternity, with players and fans alike sending condolences to his family and friends. The well-known sports persona was laid to rest this past weekend (9.03.2019) exactly two months after he celebrated his 32nd birthday on January 9th this year.

1. He was a father and husband.
Aged 32, Richard Sidindi who was known to friends as “Jadha Power” was married and is survived by one child.
2. Richard Sidindi is a Maseno graduate and a comrade.
Sidindi earned a Bachelor of Computer Science Technology from Maseno University. In the quest for knowledge, Richard was undertaking a Master of Science degree in ICT Management at the University of Nairobi at the time of his passing.
3. His nickname embodied his personality.
Known for his charisma and friendly nature, Richard was nicknamed ‘Jadha’ a Luo name that loosely translates to bosom buddy. According to friends and family, his jovial and happy-go-lucky nature made him a pleasure to be around.
4. Sidindi represented his nation with pride.
Jadha represented Kenya on a couple of occasions. The Impala Saracens fullback not only played for the local club but represented the +254 during a local tournament Safari 7s as well as the Singapore 7s. According to Sports News Arena, Sidindi was announced as part of a squad that faced off against several experienced sides attending the international tournament in 2012, including French national 7s side, Davatalevu from Fiji, Australia’s Randwick, Ponsonby from New Zealand as well as defending champions HSBC Penguins. As a key component of Impala’s team, he was known to be a major factor to uplifting the team’s spirit.
5. Sidindi’s love affair for rugby began long ago.
Jadha joined Kisumu RFC in 2005 after completing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams. He played for the club till 2011 while undertaking his undergraduate studies at Maseno University. He had brief stints at Mean Machine and Nakuru RFCs. He played for Impala Saracens for the last 8 years, till the time of his demise.
