Meet Doris Wako; The Busia Police officer who has been sharing Meals with Chokoraas

Busia Administration Police Officer Doris Wako from Matayos Sub County was among 21 women who were honoured on Friday during the International Women’s Day for her role in helping the less privileged in the society.


Wako won the hearts of many when she was captured on social media sharing a meal with streets children in Busia Town.

Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua through the Affirmative Action Fund lauded the nominee for her humane heart.


Three women were nominated from each of the seven sub counties for the award. They included Maendeleo ya Wanawake chairladies from each sub county. The occasion was graced by Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and Dr Ida Odinga.


Everlyne Akola from Butula Sub County was honoured for being a model in livestock production and value with Margaret Nafula from the same sub county receiving an award for being a model in kitchen gardening to group members.


Zuhura Atwani, a retired primary school teacher from Teso South was honoured for being a champion in dairy farming; Eve Mutanda from Matayos was honoured for being a leading nutritionist.
