A couple from England, Pauline Young and Colin Jones, wedded after 43 long years of dating. The pair met in 1976 and Colin asked for Pauline’s hand in marriage every single year thereafter.
According to W24, Pauline, however, declined each time Colin popped the question. A lovestruck 72-year-old Pauline then surprised Colin by proposing at the end of 2018.
“When Pauline asked me, I almost fell off the bed,” said Colin. Over the last couple of years, Pauline has been living with a difficult neurological condition called corticobasal degeneration.
This means the 72-year-old blushing bride now lives in a care facility, where Colin visits her every two weeks. “When Pauline moved to the care facility, she felt at home. They made her feel so welcome and safe. Science does not really have an answer to her condition,” Colin explained.
The two moved to Malta 14 years ago to start a B&B together on the island. Unfortunately, the lovebirds had to relocate back to England after Colin noticed a significant decline in Pauline’s health.
The duo got married in a romantic ceremony on Valentine’s Day 2019, with Pauline’s wheelchair decked out to match the bride and groom’s smart attire. Colin and Pauline finally had the wedding of their dreams. “There is so much love here at the moment. Everyone around us is so happy,” Colin gushed.
