Dr Ruto has accused Mr Odinga of hanging in the handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta to introduce parliamentary system, which will bring about introduction of PM post. In an interview with Kameme FM on Thursday, Raila however insisted that the Building Bridges Initiative will recommend certain aspects that needs constitutional review by May this year.
“We will decide on the way forward and undertake a national dialogue for issues that require legislative and constitution changes,” he said, admitting that bringing change was not easy.
“There must be resistance. The noise we hear is like someone with a wound; when you prick and use hot water, it pains. After all, these wrangles will end and there will be stability.”
Last week, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of also using the Handshake to extend his term in office by introduced PM position. In his jibe directed to Uhuru, Sudi said the two are using the DCI to fix DP Ruto over certain scandals with an aim of making him look corrupt. “Just tell us you want the constitution to be changed so that you continue staying on. We are ready to discuss. But tainting the name of DP won’t change anything,” he said, adding that they are ready to face pro-handshake team.
