Turkish footballer, Mansur Çalar has received a lifetime ban from football after Turkey’s Professional Football Discipline Board (PFDK) delivered its verdict on his controversial actions in Amed SK’s match with Sakaryaspor.

The 33-year-old Turkish midfielder pulled out a sharp object ahead of kick-off and attacked Ferhat Yazgan, initially taking a swipe at him in the back before he went for his throat.

According to Son Dakika Spor Haberleri, the PFDK has taken action against Çalar and has been punished for ‘permanent deprivation for attacks on rival team players

Çalar also received a 25,000TL fine, which is around £3,500 (€4,000), for breaching Article 4 of the Law on Penalties.

Along with the punishment for Çalar, Amed SK will play one match behind closed doors. 

The TFF Second League side’s Muhammed Ali Özdemir has received a four-match ban, while Muhlis Istemi will be suspended for five matches. 

Yazgan shared a photo of his injuries on Instagram, which he captioned with the following: “These football players who put [sic] the field, TFF, I hope you’ll see them.”

Amedspor player Mansur Çalar yesterday allegedly took a razor blade onto the pitch against Sakaryaspor and attacked several opposition players.
