NCIC: Women should be at the center of decision making in society

To mark the International Women’s Day, the National Cohesion and Integration Community has today assured of their support to women in relation to nation and peace building.

The Commission traverses the country supporting Women in their participation towards peacebuilding in line to their believe that women are a cornerstone of peace in a society.

NCIC highlights that women are sometimes perceived to not have the skills, knowledge or social status needed to bring about change in post-conflict environments.

NCIC endeavors to equip women to resolve conflicts. Women in leadership and the top sectors have over the years been in the frontline to advocate and embrace initiatives that promote change.

More women have been empowered to be part of solution providers unlike how it was in the past.

For this reason, NCIC is confident that women should be at the centre of decision making in society.

However, traditional and/or religious practices often bar them yet again they have proved to be vocal and bold in fighting for women rights.

NCIC encourages women to play an active role towards sustainable peace.

NCIC’s mandate is to facilitate equality of opportunity, good relations, harmony and peaceful co-existence in Kenya.

Through their support for women empowerment and appreciating the role of women in the society is one of the ways to promote equality even in communities that are still rooted in negative energy concerning the status of women in society.
