Teenage sensation Tahith Chong could be set for a season away from Manchester United as the club look to build up his experience in first-team football.
The talented 19-year-old has emerged into the first-team set-up under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and came off the bench in the latter stages of Wednesday night’s dramatic 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain.
But according to the Sun, Chong could spent the entirety of next season out on loan as United look to step up the Dutchman’s development ahead of a future role in United’s midfield.
With a mounting injury list at Old Trafford, boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to turn to some of the club’s best young talents with Chong, Mason Greenwood and James Garner all profiting of late.
As well as coming off the bench in Paris, Chong appeared in the 3-2 win over Southampton in the club’s last league game.
Clubs in Holland are believed to be keen to see the youngster return to his home country if he is available for loan from United.
Ajax, who excel with young players as highlighted in their 4-1 demolition of Real Madrid on Tuesday night, are also rumored to be following Chong’s situation.
Since the departure of Jose Mourinho, Chong has thrived in making an impression on the first-team set-up.
The Dutchman was given his debut by Solskjaer in January against Reading in the FA Cup and has continued to play a role in training and matches.
He made the switch to Old Trafford from Feyenoord at the age 16 in 2016 and has continued to impress coaches in the academy.
Chong broke his leg last year which hampered his development, but now back on track he is expected to be an important player for the club in the coming years.
