Barely a month after cutting ties with Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) over gross misconduct, the president of Atheist in Kenya (AIK) Harisson Mumia has landed a new job as a marketing manager.
In a Twitter post seen on Thursday March 7, shows that even though he was lucky to secure the job at the undisclosed firm, the defiant Mumia said God did not help him as he does not exist.
“It’s a busy day on my first working day as a marketing manager. Just wanted to remind you’all that God doesn’t exist,” he posted.
When dismissing him, the bank regulator (CBK) had accused Mumia of engaging in political activities by making statements on social media which could compromise neutrality of his employer.
One of the remarks appeared to suggest arrest of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter over fake treasury bonds in which he defrauded Mumia’s employer was unlawful.
“I thought Alfred Keter was in government. I thought yuko ndani ndani. Mbona anashikwa na his government tena? (I thought he was in government, why is he being arrested by own government?). Useless, being in government is a myth. To those who voted for Jubileee, in what sense are you in government?” he tweeted then.

Even though the CBK had cautioned him against any further misconduct and despite having been suspended, Mumia continued with his Tweeter outbursts.
For instance, CBK’s acting human resource manager, Dennis Mukuu, took note of Mumia’s tweet in which he (Mumia) claimed Keter’s arrest was not based on any fair investigation but a betrayal by his political party.
“You (Mumia) nonetheless knew the arrest was as a result of investigations by investigating agencies including your employer,” Mukuu said.
When the disciplinary committee made final decision, it was agreed Mumia be summarily dismissed.
