How Neymar reacted to PSG loss to injury infested Manchester United from the stands of Parc des Princes

It is a night to remember, but it is to be remembered differently for both teams, one for the good memories an the other for the bad ones, but one man will not forget it Neymar who watched from the stands could not believe they were ousted by United.

Manchester United pulled off a remarkable 3-1 victory to progress to the last eight of the Champions League on away goals after a 3-3 tie over two legs against Paris Saint-Germain – and starman Neymar was left shocked to say the least.

The Brazilian was devastated post-match as he reacted to his PSG side being dumped out of the Champions League by United.

Neymar has been sidelined by injury in recent weeks and missed the 2-0 win at Old Trafford last month. He was again missing for this tie.

The 27-year-old ended up being left speechless post-match after Marcus Rashford’s 94th minute penalty goal led to a 3-3 draw on aggregate, with United progressing on away goals.

BT Sport pictures showed Neymar’s astonished reaction to the second-leg defeat and there was no wonder considering United became the first team in Champions League history to qualify after losing a home first-leg match by two or more goals.

Neymar struggled to contain his emotions as Paris Saint-Germain crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Manchester United.

The Brazilian has been sidelined with a metatarsal injury in recent weeks, meaning he missed his side’s 2-0 first leg victory over the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

And Neymar was also in the stands at the Parc des Princes for the second leg, hoping to see the French giants cruise into the quarter-finals of the competition.

However, a 3-1 victory for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side – capped by Marcus Rashford’s 94th-minute penalty was enough to see the Premier League outfit pull off an unlikely comeback.

The goal in added time ensured that United progressed through on away goals, despite the aggregate score being tied at 3-3.

Television pictures captured Neymar’s reaction following Rashford’s vital spot-kick, with the PSG star dumbfounded at the scenes unfolding in front of him.

The late collapse brings back memories of the Ligue 1 champions’ capitulation at the hands of Barcelona last year when the Spanish side won the second leg of their tie 6-1 to progress.

Neymar’s expression is a picture of despair, disbelief and anger as United became the only team to ever lose the first leg of a Champions League or European Cup tie at home by two goals and still go through.

On the penalty, Rashford said: “There’s no fun in that as a penalty taker it’s just relief.

“When that hits the net, it’s a case of thank everything!“In that position you just go numb. Others may feel differently but you just do it to be a leader.”

After the game United legend Rio Ferdinand revealed he thought the penalty should not have been given.

“I don’t think it’s a penalty but turning your back, as a defender, you get punished for things like that,” he said.
