Former Milan star, Ruud Gullit, doesn’t think Jose Mourinho will replace Santiago Solari as Real Madrid’s next permanent manager, stating that no coach in the world would want to step into the mess Los Blancos are in right now. Following consecutive defeats to Barcelona in domestic competitions, Madrid were thrashed 4-1 by Ajax in the second-leg of their last-16 tie on Tuesday. Over the last week, the Los Blancos have surrendered all three trophies they were fighting for and are now on course for a trophyless campaign.
Santiago Solari’s poor spell has left the fans frustrated, with many of them hoping to see Jose Mourinho back at the helm. Gullit, however, doesn’t think the Portuguese will be too keen on coming back to the Spanish capital.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS Gullit, as per Mirror, said: “[Solari] has to be afraid for his job. They were humiliated against Barcelona and then this happens. How are they going to resolve this? Who is going to step in? No one wants to step into this.” “[Mourinho] won’t step in now, I don’t think he will step in now. I can’t believe that he would step in now, there’s nothing to gain, there’s nothing to win.”
Marcel Desailly agreed with Gullit, adding: “They’ve lost everything, and in a bad way as well, it’s not like they tried, it’s humiliation.” “Remember Mourinho, he plays with the fact that he can potentially bring players to victory. Instead, he would just take the team slowly until the end of the season.”
