Tuchel praises Solskjaer: ‘It’s the spirit that made him and this is the spirit of Man United’

Manchester United will try to come back from the 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford as our lads face Les Parisiens in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16. Despite the two-goal deficit, Thomas Tuchel refuses to write Solskjaer’s side off.

PSG’s boss is fully aware of what The Red Devils are capable of and has nothing but respect for Ole: “It’s the spirit that made him and this is the spirit of Man United, that they are ready for anything. They are a strong club with a strong history. It is totally normal that we respect his quality. It’s a big challenge for us.”

Tuchel hopes his team will take control of the game as they have players with incredible pace such as Kylian Mbappe who already scored against United at Old Trafford in February. However, Les Parisiens’ manager also points at Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford who he considers the main threat in Solskjaer’s squad.

“Normally Manchester United play 4-4-2 with a diamond formation and two strikers who play wide. For this we need to find a solution. We clearly would like to control the pace of the game, control counter-attacks very early in the game. Both [Romelu] Lukaku and [Marcus] Rashford are quick and very strong players, so we need to be wary.”

Breaking the deadlock will probably be a very important task for both teams. Ole believes United have good chances to come back if The Red Devils ‘get the first one‘. However, Tuchel also tips his side to try to open the score:

First goal is really important, for us to show qualities and play together as a team. My team has been showing a very good level recently. The game is going to be very tight, and we cannot waste our time thinking about every possible eventuality. We need to be ready to react to any type of scenario. The challenge is to play at our best.”
