Nakuru plans a one-of-a-kind International Women’s day celebration to honour women.

On March 8th annually, women all over the world celebrate their social, economic and political achievements. The day marks an annual call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity.

The campaign has gained increasing attraction in recent years, with this year’s theme focusing on gender balance.

This year’s commemoration coming at time when Kenya is still struggling to pass two-thirds gender bill that has been in National Assembl.

In Nakuru County all is set for the Day.

According to Nakuru County chief officer Gender, Culture and Social Services Tume Abduba, the event will be a unique one.

Tume said the event will be held at the Shabab Social Hall grounds in Nakuru West.

“We realized that women lack knowledge and skills and that is why we decided this year’s event will be different from the past. We have organized that service deliverers from different departments will be present and women will be allowed to raise their questions and get responses. It will be open as possible,” said Tume.

She appealed to women to make good use of the day to learn more from various departments within the county.

Similar events will be held in various sub-counties such as Njoro, Rongai, Molo, Naivasha, Kuresoi and, Bahati and Subukia.
