Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga bagged a brace as Kashiwa Reysol came from a goal down to beat visiting FC Tokyo 2-1 in a Japanese Cup clash staged at the Kashiwa Stadium on the afternoon of Wednesday 6 March.

Tokyo took the lead on the half hour mark through Japanese Tsuyoshi Watanabe; a lead they maintained until the half time break.

Olunga was to restore parity for the hosts in the 65th minute before scoring what proved to be the winner four minutes later.

On the league front this season, Kashiwa have won all their two games but find themselves third on the log in the Japanese J2 league this after being relegated from the country’s top-flight last season.

Olunga will hope that his goals would have convinced his coach to give him more playing time in league games where he has only featured for 44 minutes this season.

The striker has been a mainstay at the national team and an important player in the qualifiers to the Africa Cup of Nations where he has bagged two goals and was instrumental in Harambee Stars historic win over Ghana last year.

He is among the summoned players by head coach Sebastien Migne ahead of their last qualifier group game against Ghana later this month.
