Chelsea president Roman Abramovich wants to axe rebel goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who stole the headlines in the Carabao Cup defeat when the Spaniard refused to be substituted in the dying minutes of extra time.

The Basque was dropped for the following crucial Premier League clash against Tottenham amid question marks over his future.

Maurizio Sarri has since restored Kepa to the starting eleven – he pulled off a string of excellent stops to deny Fulham a deserved point in the West London derby.

But reports in Spain claim Roman Abramovich is not quite in the forgiving mood.

The Premier League giants owner has demanded the club find a buyer for the £71 million signing and it is also reported the FA Cyp holders face a battle to sell the Spanish stopper.

The Blues will struggle to find a buyer in the English top flight while interested La Liga sides could prove challenging to find.

Midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek admitted after the win at Craven Cottage that Kepa Arrizabalaga apologised for his actions in the Carabao Cup final.

“The boss wanted to show he demands respect from his players and he put in Willy [Caballero] for the Tottenham game,” the England international said.

“Kepa was honest with us, and he apologised to all of us the day after the final, and we all accepted that apology.

“I think there was a misunderstanding involved in it, but he apologised to us, and we accepted it. I think it’s very important to move on quickly from that.”
