Why Joho wants to dissolve his government

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has vowed to dissolve his government amidst threats by MCAs to impeach some ministers.

The governor strongly stated that he was also ready to initiate the dissolution of the County Assembly which would trigger another election.

The MCAs had already collected 36 out of a possible 39 signatures to remove Transport CEC Tawfiq Balala, Kyalo Munyoki (Sports) and Edward Nyale (Lands).

“KamaMCA hawafanyikazi, tunawezakuchukuasahihizenunyinyi, tuvunjeserikali, miminawaoturudikatikadebe (If the MCAs are not working, we can collect public signatures, dissolve the government so that MCAs and I go back to the ballot),” vowed Joho.

He further urged the embattled CECs to not to be worried by the legislators as he was the appointing authority and not the assembly.

Joho encouraged his executives by telling them, “PriorityyakoiwekutumikiawatuwaMombasa namsitishwe (Your priority should be serving the people of Mombasa and don’t feel threatened).”

“Si mimindiyenilipigwakura, si mimindiyeniliwachagua (I am the one who was elected and the one who appointed them). What is the problem?” Joho posed to residents who had attended his public rally.

CEC Balala was accused by MCAs of being arrogant, rude and uncooperative.

The legislators claimed that some wards were favoured in street-lighting projects.

CECs Munyoki and Nyale have been accused of incompetence in the fulfillment of their obligations to the county.
