Corruption has certainly taken a huge toll on Kenya’s economy. Despite raising some pretty good money through taxes, the Kenyan government has still been forced to borrow cash from foreign nations, cash that has still ended up in the hands of a few greedy individuals.

President Kenyatta has time and again stated that nobody will be spared in the War against Graft but even at that his government continues to face criticisms from different quarters for failing Kenyans in the war against Corruption.

With all these in mind, the Country certainly needs to craft better ways to deal with corruption and corrupt individuals.

Siaya Senator and Senate Minority leader James Orengo has got the perfect recipe on dealing with corrupt individuals.

If implemented, Orengo believes his recipe will bear fruits and corruption will be a thing of the past in Kenya.

According to Orengo, Culprits must be publicly named and shamed to win the war on corruption.

Arrests and trials are important, but not enough, he said.

“At this stage when corruption has become a cancer, the fight is not going to be won without naming names,” the Senate Minority leader said.

“We should not be scared of naming and shaming,” Orengo said, adding that’s one way to ensure leaders adhere to the Constitution’s Chapter Six on integrity.

Kenyan leaders are always scared when their names are associated with corruption, “even if it’s just to record a statement”, he said.

Many countries that have succeeded in fighting corruption used the name-and-shame strategy as a deterrent, Orengo said.
