Family and friends to the Late Kantai call out MCSK for rapper’s unpaid dues

Veteran Kenyan rapper Chris Kantai passed away on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 and will be buried Friday, March 8th, 2019. Much had been said about him. He took a break from music to deal with domestic life and personal issues and he had always shied away from speaking or acknowledging the issue of alcoholism. In 2016, the rapper rubbished rumuors that he had hit rock bottom and lost control over his life due to alcoholism.

According to a family member, friends and family of the fallen rapper will converge every day from 5 pm at Gracia Garden to develop a schedule for tributes as well as music programme ahead of the funeral. The “Issues” rapper will be buried this Friday at his family’s home in Oloolua, Ngong’.

The family in Kantai’s orbituary released a Mpesa PayBill number 891300, Account Name ‘Kantai’, for contributions from well-wishers to cater towards his hospital bill and funeral arrangements. “His family is seeking your support. Today at 5 pm Gracia Garden, Dennis Pritt we arrange tributes and music programme for the funeral this coming Friday. Here we are again an artist like Kantai who had so many hits in Kenya and has nothing to show for it,” rapper Buddha Blaze tweeted.

According to a statement released by Kantai’s family, the rapper was confirmed to have passed away on Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital in Kasarani and that the 40-year-old rapper had been suffering from acute peptic ulcers for a while. Kantai who was born on the 25th of December in 1978, had several hits on his catalog such as “Huu Ni Nani G“, “Issues”, “Put it On” and his collabo with female rapper STL titled “Happy”. His last recording was in 2016 when he did a collabo with rapper Khaligraph Jones “Ting Badi Malo”.
