Arsenal fans are even more hopeful that youngster Xavier Amaechi will stay at the Gunners following Monday’s display for the club’s Under-23s, despite reported interest from Bayern Munich.
Amaechi starred as the Gunners battled back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Swansea City at Borehamwood’s Meadow Park, with Folarin Balogun and Nathan Tormey striking for the hosts, both in the last seven minutes.
Eighteen-year-old right-winger Amaechi was a constant thorn in the Swans’ side, and almost scored with a stunning free-kick.
Football.London gave the England Under-17s star the highest rating of any Gunners player in the match, scoring him 8/10.
“Everything good about Arsenal in the first half came from Amaechi, who was roasting Swansea’s left-back as he cut in and out from the right flank at will,” they wrote.
“Most of the crowd were convinced Amaechi had got a deserved goal when his curling free-kick slammed into the net but he had not quite been able to curl it inside the post. It was perhaps the only thing he got wrong.”
The match came on the same day that the same outlet exclusively reported Bayern Munich’s interest in Amaechi as they look to make him the latest young talent to swap English football for the Bundesliga.
But, as if they needed any more convincing of his talent, his display on Monday underlined just why fans don’t want to let him go.
