Embattled Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, formally handed over the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage to CS Amina Muhammed. the ceremony took place at the Sports Ministry offices where he took the chance to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing him to the position.
“At the handover ceremony to the incoming Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed. I once again President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto for considering me amongst 50 Million Kenyans to serve my country in the capacity of a Cabinet Secretary.
Echesa, who learnt of his firing on Friday and booed by Kenyans on line over his alleged links with con men and dealing in fake cash, revealed that his dismissal came as a surprise to him but he wished his successor success in her mandates. While addressing mourners at a funeral in Marina village, Kakamega County on Saturday, Echesa stated that the Head of State did not inform him of the move in advance.
