What caused the sudden death of Sonko’s healthy granny

As City governor is still in mourning over the loss of his role model grandmother, details have emerged on what might have caused the sudden death of the healthy oldie who lived a simple life at the coast.

On Sunday night, Sonko’s grandmother, Fatuma Swaleh Ali, passed away at her residence in Mombasa.

Speaking to the media, Director of Communications, Governor Press Service and Media Chief Officer Nairobi City County, Jacob Elkana, affirmed that Sonko’s grandmother would be buried on Monday at 3pm as per Islamic laws.

A close aide to Governor Sonko revealed that Fatuma is reported to have collapsed and died at her residence in Mombasa.

Collapsed to her death

Governor Sonko described her as a role model, citing that she was an inspiration to generations.

Reports from the media chief established that the late Fatuma will be laid to rest at Kikowani Muslim Cemetery, Mombasa county.

Fatuma’s death came hours after the Nairobi Governor celebrated his birthday over the weekend with close friends and family.

Sonko’s party was held at his Mua Hills home in Machakos at what he described as a low-key event.

Heartfelt condolences

Governor Sonko also sent out a heartfelt condolence message to the family of Captain Mario Magonga on Monday, following the tragic helicopter crash that left the aviator – who was also Deputy President Ruto’s pilot – and four tourists dead.

“My condolences to the family of DP William Ruto’s pilot Mario Magonga who died together with 4 other people after their chopper crashed in Turkana this morning. May the Lord rest their souls in eternal peace,” read his Facebook post.
