The Dams debate has taken another twist after Treasury CS Henry Rotich came with another figure on the controversial Arror and Kimwarer projects.
Last week, the Deputy President denied that at least sh 21 billion have been lost in projects that cannot be seen except a bush land in Kerio valley. The DP said that the money in question was about sh 7 billion and that no coin would be lost.
His utterances were not received well with Raila Odinga saying that seven billion si pesa ya kununua mandazi.
But Henry Rotich has added another side to this story. Mr Rotich confirmed in an advertisement in a local daily that nearly Sh20 billion has been spent as advance payment to begin building the Arror and Kimwarer dams, contradicting claims by Dr Ruto that only Sh7 billion had.
So who is telling the truth? Rotich or Ruto?
The DP’s friends have been making a lot of noise that he is being politically targeted. But Ruto has not helped himself. All Kenyans want is to see the dams.
