Mombasa County takes up project to fuel vision of transforming the city into a 24 hour economy

Mombasa County has announced that they have taken up another project to fuel their vision of transforming the city into a 24 hour economy.

Earlier today, the Chief Executive Committee Member in Charge of Trade, Tourism and Investment, Mr Rashid, in the company of Trade CO Mr. Abdulwahab Mbarak, Trade technical team and Mombasa @SubcountyAdmin visited and assessed Changamwe & Chaani retail markets in Changamwe Sub-County.

Mr Rashid revealed that the county intends to refurbish the two stalled markets which upon completion will create additional 300 trading spaces for the Small and Medium Enterprises in both markets.

The county government of Mombasa will also install security lights in both markets so as to boost security for the traders and as well promote the 24 –hour business opportunity to them.The county will ensure proper drainage system is in place too.

This move to renovate the market comes weeks after they started the refurbishing the biggest market in the city Kongowea Market with the same intention of fulfilling their vision.
