Governor Sonko hurriedly buries his grandmother in Mombasa

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is mourning the death of his grandmother
Fatuma Swaleh.

The elderly lady collapsed and died on the spot on Sunday night. Sonko said she has done a lot for him and he wouldn’t be where he is today were it not for her.

The governor hurriedly buried his grandmother at Kikowani Muslim Cemetery in Mombasa.

During burial of my late grandmother Fatuma Swaleh Ali at Kikowani Muslim Cemetery in Mombasa. My late grandma passed on last night after collapsing. If it was not for her, I couldn’t be where I am today. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. pic.twitter.com/9B7jgTsNts— Mike Sonko (@MikeSonko) March 4, 2019

This is perhaps explained by the fact that the grandma was a muslim and the religion advocates for burying the body as soon as possible.

This is the second tragedy that has hit the Sonko family. In September 2015, his father Gideon Kioko Kivanguli passed away at the Nairobi Hospital.

Our prayers are with the family during this trying moment.
