The puzzle surrounding a Ksh4 million vehicle that was gifted to Kisumu Diocese Archbishop Phillip Anyolo by Deputy President William Ruto during installation has been unravelled with the Archbishop confirming that the Mitsubishi Pajero SUV is no longer in his possession.

According to opposition chief Raila Odinga, the gift was rejected and handed back to the presenter after the Pope (Francis) intervened and ordered so.

Refering to the gift, Odinga disclosed that “Recently, during the installation of Archbishop of Catholic Diocese of Kisumu, someone took a vehicle to the bishop as a gift. When the Pope was informed that the Archbishop had received a car gift, he [Pope Francis] ordered that the vehicle be returned”.

The ODM party leader who was addressing mourners at a funeral in Ugenya yesterday (Saturday, March 2) revealed that Bishop Anyolo complied with the orders, claiming that the car was brought from the proceeds of corruption.

“True to his instruction, the car was returned because it was acquired from proceeds of corruption…Public funds are being looted daily yet poor Kenyans are suffering. Every day, the prices of commodities are rising while graft perpetrators, who are known to the public, run to churches with stolen money.” Odinga stated.
