Even as Kenyans continue to pile pressure on President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire Cabinet Secretaries whose dockets have been tainted with corruption, Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri has come out to defend himself against his alleged involvement in the maize and fertilizer scandal.
Speaking in Munyaka, Laikipia County, a visibly angry Kiunjuri also said it wasn’t him further lamenting what he termed as a ploy to drag his name through the mud.
The CS who was given a dress down by President Kenyatta during last year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations over trouble in the maize sector, said he has never dipped his hands in the cookie jar.
He is now putting on notice those linking him to corruption saying he will fight to defend his name and integrity.
Meanwhile, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has urged President Kenyatta to move with speed and sack all Cabinet Secretaries in his government named in corruption cases.
Speaking during a tour of Tharaka Ward, the Senator lauded President Uhuru for his bold step, saying no one should be spared in the fight against graft.
He however wondered why CSs linked to the multi-billion dams scandals are still in office, saying they should be suspended until investigations are complete.
