Why Steve Mbogo claims life is in danger

Following inspecting operations of the licencing board at the DCI Academy in South C in Nairobi, interior cs Matiangi’ stated that so far, the government has confiscated 340 firearms and 5,371 assorted ammunition and revoked 36 licenses improperly issued to civilian firearms holders.

He pointed out that the exercise will however continue in other regions for 11 more days until March 18.

The Firearms Licensing Board arrived at this decision after thorough vetting of 3,600-gun owners since the beginning of the exercise on December 15, 2018, where conspicuous improprieties were unearthed in the acquisition and certification of firearms for private use.

Former Starehe parliamentary Steve Mbogo has however moved to court to challenge cancellation the of his firearm certificate.

Through lawyer Willis Evans, Mbogo says that on February 5, 2019, the Firearms Licensing Board informed him of the decision to confiscate his four weapons and bullets. 

Mbogo moved to the High Court today on a certificate of urgency to have his four guns returned, arguing that his life is in danger. He wants the court to compel the board to return the guns and his firearm certificate.
