Matiang’i set to face probe over the possible loss of Ksh4.8 billion

The corruption watch dog has uncovered plots by a few state officials to steal Ksh 4.8billion through the security contracts in the office of the president.

According to reports the top officials in the State Department for Correctional Services which oversees prisons under the ministry of Interior awarded 10 classified tenders irregularly to be paid un upfront of Ksh 3.6 billion.

The contracts are said to have been signed by the then former Correctional Services Principal Secretary Alfred Cheruiyot before he was moved to the Department of Post Training and Skills Development.

Prisons Commissioner General Isaiah Osugo told EACC he was not aware of the security contracts, some of which involved heavy artillery that is not meant for prison warders.
