Manchester City would by any means prefer wining Champions League compared to the Premier League title.
Former Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur forward Darren Bent believes that Manchester City would rather win the Champions League than defend the Premier League title.
Man City are still in four competitions and sits second on the league’s log, a point below Liverpool with ten games remaining. Bent argues that even the fans would want to see Man City conquer Europe than win the FA Cup and or the league. The Citizens have already won the first season gong after beating Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.
“I think there is more pressure on City to win the Champions League than the Premier League. With the amount of money they’ve spent, and they’ve gone and got Guardiola, that’s what is at the forefront of their minds. If you asked City fans what they’d rather win now they’d say the Champions League just because they haven’t done it, whereas Liverpool fans would say the Premier League because it’s been such a long period since they won it. There is pressure on City to win it but I think the majority of their focus and pressure on them is winning the Champions League,” Bent told The Debate.
Man City will play Bournemouth away on Saturday after labouring past Wst Ham United at home in the midweek encounter.
