This comes only a few days after it was alleged that Mr Echesa was tied to the Sh 8 billion counterfeit scandal.
In a cabinet reshuffle by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, Echesa, a former boxer, was relieved of his responsibilities, and chances are high that he has been fired by Kenyatta after allegations that he was linked to the Fake Currency Scandal.
“In accordance with Article 152(5) of the Constitution, as read together with Article 152(1)(d) of the Constitution, the appointment of Mr. Rashid Echesa Mohamed, as a Cabinet Secretary has been vacated,” read the statement from Statehouse.
President Kenyatta has issued a major reshuffle of his cabinet today.
