‘To play in Wembley and win at Wembley, there’s nothing better’ Leno Speaks on Facing Spurs

Bernd Leno’s Bayer Leverkusen defeated Tottenham at Wembley back in 2016. The Bundesliga outfit visited English capital to beat the Spurs 1-0 in the Champions League group stage encounter thanks to Kevin Kampl single netting. Leno added a clean sheet to his name that night and the German aims at the same outcome on Saturday as Arsenal take of Pochettino’s side in the 2nd North London derby of the current campaign.

“I remember I played with Leverkusen at Wembley and we won 1-0 against Tottenham,” Leno said, as cited by the Mirror. “I’d be happy with the same result!

“To play in Wembley and win at Wembley, there’s nothing better. It’s not just the north London derby, it’s a very important game when you look at the table.

“Our target is to win there and to show the same performance as today. Tottenham is on another level than Bournemouth so it will be more difficult.”

The Gunners have beaten Tottenham 4-2 at home earlier this season and now look to have an advantage over the Spurs ahead of the weekend’s trip to Wembley as Pochettino’s have suffered two consecutive defeats in the Premier League in a 6-day time while Arsenal are on a 3-game winning streak in all competitions.
