Arsenal duo emerge among most highly rated players of Prem’s midweek clashes

Arsenal have kept the 4th Premier League position on Wednesday as Emery’s side extended their winning run up to 3 games in all competitions by beating Bournemouth 5-1 at home. Ozil and Micki have scooped all the plaudits having been involved in four out of five Arsenal goals. Here’s how WhoScored’s Josh Wright assessed the Gunners duo’s performance against the Cherries.

5. Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Arsenal) – 8.59 rating / Fabian Schar (Newcastle) – 8.59 rating

2 – Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the first player to both score and assist a goal in consecutive Premier League appearances for Arsenal since Santi Cazorla in February 2015. Fine. #ARSBOU pic.twitter.com/lcul7q9fSY— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) February 27, 2019

“Henrikh Mkhitaryan has now played a direct hand in five goals in his last two Premier League matches after scoring once and providing two assists in Arsenal’s 5-1 victory at home to Bournemouth on Wednesday night. The Armenia international registered four key passes in total.”

4. Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton) – 8.70 rating

3. Mesut Ozil (Arsenal) – 9.23 rating

50 – Mesut Ozil has now been directly involved in 50 goals in just 85 Premier League appearances for Arsenal at the Emirates (19 goals, 31 assists). Nifty. #ARSBOU pic.twitter.com/fzfMPdWZQe— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) February 27, 2019

“There hasn’t been much good to say about Mesut Ozil this season but the German playmaker offered a reminder of his qualities in Arsenal’s drubbing of Bournemouth. Ozil opened the scoring in the fourth minute and then supplied the past for Henrikh Mkhitaryan to double their advantage later in the first half. Ozil was also denied by the woodwork. The 30-year-old registered four key passes in total and impressively completed 96.9% of his passes.”

2. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) – 9.37 rating

1. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – 9.54 rating
