12-year old Congolese soldier surrenders war to be a teacher

Child soldier from rebel groups in the war torn region of DRCongo have given up the war, surrendered their lucky charms and guns.

Mado, a 12-year kid led her other children and other adults in surrendering their arms as a show of giving up in the war.

The children walked from the bust in the east side of Kinshasha. They lay bare their guns, machetes and charms they used to ‘protect them from danger’.

Among the kids was also a ten-year old who had also been fighting in the bush.

The war has killed over 3,000 people and displaced million others since it began
