Chelsea goalkeepers Kepa Arizzabalaga and Willy Caballero reportedly clashed in the dressing room after the Carabao Cup defeat against Manchester City.

Kepa, 24, refused to be substituted deep into injury time despite appearing to struggle with cramp and the club subsequently fining him a week’s wages for his behavior which angered Coach Maurizio Sarri.

And according to The Sun, the Spaniard told his team-mate Caballero that he wanted to stay on for the penalty shootout because he was a better keeper.

Kepa publicly apologized for his actions on Monday saying: “ I made a big mistake with how I handled the situation. I wanted to take time today to apologise fully and in person to the coach, to Willy (Caballero), my team-mates and to the club.

“I have done this and now I want to offer the same apology to the fans. I will learn from this episode and will accept any punishment or discipline the club decides is appropriate.”

It remains to be seen whether Sarri will stick with Kepa when they face Tottenham on Wednesday night.
