Why Senegalese keeper wept after Pele scored against him

Retired Brazilian megastar Pele has recalled on a incidence that occurred during his playing days whereby he netted a goal that left one of the goalkeepers in Senegal so devastated that he broke down into tears.

Using his twitter account, Pele wrote:

‘Once, in a match in Senegal, the goalkeeper cried so much after I scored that he had to be substituted! He had lost a big bet!’

However, the tweet has seen drawn endless criticism from football supporters all over the world who have labeled the Brazilian ‘a mere show off’.

A section of them has insisted that Pele is so full of himself adding that he is not as good as he thinks since most of his goals were netted against average teams and clueless defenders.

Nevertheless, you cannot take away what the 78-year-old achieved particularly during his senior career with one of the most remarkable feats he holds up to date being the three World Cups he won.

He also netted 77 goals during the 92 matches he played for Brazil and scored a total of 1281 goals in 1363 appearances.

However, the fact that some of his goals came during tour matches and unfriendly matches has always elicited mixed reactions with many fans arguing that it was the only reason he raked so many goals in his entire career
